Mariana was the first colonial town in Minas Gerais
Brazil. It's located only 12 kilometers from
Ouro Preto
and 112 from the state capital Belo
Horizonte. Founded in 1696 by pionners from Sao Paulo. While
Ouro Preto was the government administration town on XVIII century,
Mariana was the catholic church center in Minas Gerais province. |
