Caves

Maquine is a lime stone cave 120 kilometers away from Belo Horizonte. Eight chambers with 880 meters long and 120 meters deep. The stalactite formations are notable for their bizarre shapes, resembling bells, shells, horses. In some places they take the form of high travertine walls.

Rei do Mato is a cave 70 kilometers away from Belo Horizonte. There are three large chambers with numerous stactites, stalagmites and rimstone dams. In the Room of the Rarities it is found identical parallel columns, formed by the calcium carbonate (crystals of calcite).
